One strange truth of personal sites on the web is that for most of universe your pages are the only introduction to you that they will ever have. They won't ever know about your cat unless you mention it. They will never know thick or thin; old or young; black, white, yellow, or brown; or even your sex. All of you they will ever know you put up or show them deliberately.
This leads to a remarkable thing. On the web, you can be anything you want but you can only be what they see and read. The benefit is you can pretend all you like and never let on; everyone sees that aspect of the deal. What people rarely get is the opposite, that there is a real human out there with multiple interests and multiple hobbies and an infinite number of faces they aren't sharing.
